Robert Mathieu (1921-2002) was a French designer and influential producer of lighting fixtures in the 1950s. He began his career as a watchmaker after attending the Ecole Boulle, Paris, and in 1949 opened his flagship store at 98 Boulevard Charonne. His largescale commissions included lighting and mirrors for The Grand Hotel du Louvre and the Concorde Lafayette.
