Tim Noble (1966) & Sue Webster (1976) live and work in London. They made their name with their enigmatic sculptures made from salvaged objects (bits of wood, drink cans, scrap iron, cigarette packets, stuffed animals…).
Their carefully orchestrated pieces throw shadows when under lights that shows the contours of characters in different poses.
As the Enfants Terribles of the Young British Artists (YBA) movement, the extravagant works of Tim Noble & Sue Webster are dark but funny, appearing positive or negative.
While their sculptures often represent themselves, their work is intended as a sharp critique of consumer society, the image of a delicate balance, always on the verge of explosion.
