José Zanine Caldas was a radical creator. His work always aimed to find the essence at the root of each of his projects – whether it was the exploration of the natural environment or his conceptualtisation of indoor space as a synergy of the senses. His engagement with Brazilian craftsmanship and natural materials underlies the character of his works found in the Denuncia furniture collection.
His life’s work has always taken a humanistic approach, that values the ability to create and produce with local means for local needs.
Within his rich and diverse work there are always bridges of communication: the coherence of his perception, his creations and his perspective on life. He had strong socio-environmental philosophy, believing in the importance of close contact with nature, while searching for both joy and freedom.
Since its beginning, Carpenters Workshop Gallery has emphasized innovative design with unique artistic approaches. By showcasing a unique ensemble of Caldas’s pieces, the gallery follows the thread of creation to offer the public an exceptional and inspirational exhibition. Its strong historical positioning aims to give Zanine Caldas his rightful place in the history of design.
