Danish metalworker Ane Christensen explores the intimacies of metal in her Crumbling collection, crafting brass and gold rings that seem as if they are disintegrating before your eyes.
Her brass Double Ring focuses on elements of positive and negative space, contrasting two concave planes of brass against a lattice of holes that covers over half the work. The circumference of each brass hemisphere correlates to the smaller holes within them, playing with a sense of scale and referencing atomic structures.

Ane Christensen’s metalwork explores the boundaries between functionality and sculptural form. Most of her work is the result of applying a strict set of rules through out her design and work process. She finds inspiration in the restrictive work process itself and the challenge to stretch its limitations. The starting point for all her pieces is the simple geometry of sheet metal and spun forms, which she deconstructs using techniques such as piercing, soldering and hand-forming.
