Dark in hue and more angular than the first in the series, Gyre II also derives its form from the concentric shells that are the Gyre signature. Once again a central bronze stem locks the shells into place in a manner drawn from the artist's early experiments in which forms were quickly pinned together. Gyre II eschews the varied palettes of the other pieces in the range, creating a fine filigree from multiple layers of black and white resin that are carefully cut back to reveal a delicate texture.

Charles Trevelyan was born in 1974 in Australia. With a background in material science and engineering, Charles navigated a gradual transition from the sciences to the arts before finding a natural home for his work at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in 2007.
