In his Barometro series, Italian sculptor Giacomo Ravagli delineates an artistic relationship between marble, brass and light. The bases of his luxurious floor and table lamps are cut from the highest calibre of Italian marble into radical angles, mirrored in the overhead lampshades. Natural colour variations within the carefully selected polychrome marble add further depth to Ravagli’s work. The infinitely black portoro nero added intense contrast to classical façades, and its three-dimensional use here lends the work gravitas. Each lamp is produced in a limited edition of eight, but the constellations, veins and ripples of colour that flow over their surfaces ensure that each one is truly unique.
