Giuseppe Scapinelli was an Italian-born architect and designer who worked in Brazil. He was known for juxtaposing Brazilian materials with a more European, decorative sensibility. This coffee table shows his singular sculptural style, as well as his creative use of Brazilian woods. The design of the table carefully balances straight and curved lines, creating an inherent sense of harmony. The ipe wood has been crafted into thin, graceful lines that give the table a feeling of delicacy and grace. Scapinelli’s characteristic attention to detail seen in the table’s precise joints and high level of finish.
