Harry Nuriev lives in Paris, and works between Paris and New York City.
Denim is a fabric closely related to the concept of the ‘American Dream’, and Nuriev explores this symbolism in his ultra-contemporary series. The fabric’s vaunted position within both the haute-fashion world as well as everyday society has been a true inspiration to Nuriev, who often mixes influences from middle American fashion with the luxuries of a global elite.
Nuriev’s intentions to ‘dress’ his space in the same way he would dress himself originated from a deep historical research, and an awareness of a personalised element lacking from design history. Denim’s environment is modular, able to be interchanged at will, reactive to how one feels in the moment. Within this domestic matrix, the exhibition gravitates around several larger pieces, such as his Grand Dining Table with 12 Stools, a vast table and the centrepiece of any room.
