Lélélite, Concrete, Paint, Varnish, Light Fittings

Using her own special plaster called lélélite, Léa Mestres experiments with colour and texture. Ozzy is two-toned green lamp, whose rough, pale surfaces appear embedded with small, dark square shapes. This piece adds to the artist’s Craving for Crépi series of works whose names are inspired by Mestres’ friends and family, as well as fictional characters, thus imbuing them with a human character.

Artist

Léa Mestres

Léa Mestres is an experimental French artist who seeks to counter a design world that she sees as too serious and too male-dominated. She uses play, humour and whimsy as aesthetic devices to create colourful, anthropomorphic, larger-than-life sculptures that act as windows into the artist’s vivid imagination.
