Resin, Flowers
Mesmerising with their intricate anatomical details, intriguing inflorescence and zig-zag leaves, Banksias were named after Sir Joseph Banks, the botanist who sailed with Captain Cook in 1770 and first documented them. Dependent on bushfires and extreme heat to replicate, these low-maintenance plants are pioneers in arid Australian landscapes, symbolising uncompromising pride and unconventional beauty.
Other plants featured in the composition: Orchids, palm leaves, brunia, araucaria (Norfolk Island pine – also discovered during Cook’s expedition), and others.
