Natural Plywood, Moose Antler

40 x 44 x 35 cm
15.7 x 17.3 x 13.8 in

Integrating both formalism and minimalism, Rick Owens has created a stool crucial to any contemporary interior space. The naturally occurring purity of form of the antler is sharply contrasted by the angular plywood frame, creating an equilibrium of opposing forms. Owen’s has effortlessly fashioned a stark metamorphosis of naturally occurring and manmade elements.

His designs evoke original furniture through archetypes. Through his choice of subtle and rare materials, Owens suggests the beauty of nature and develops a contrasting palette of black and white that confirms his taste for the monochrome. He juxtaposes values to compose three-dimensional pieces that fully reflect his own style. Through fashion, design, and furniture, he cuts and shapes a transversal and global universe.

Rick Owens

Rick Owens grew up in Porterville, a small town in California’s San Joaquin valley. Drawn to pre-gentrified Hollywood and L.A.’s punk underground in the 80s, Owens studied painting at what is now Otis College of Art and Design. He then switched to Los Angeles Trade Technical-College to learn pattern-making and draping.
