Today, thanks to the multitude of available production technologies, objects can take on any shape and any appearance. The real and the fake, the natural and the artificial, blend into each other in a henceforth uninhibited way. The Return of the Thing console table is made of real wood, whereas The Thing is made of resin coated fibreglass, printed on via water transfer, a dipping process whereby decorative films can be mapped onto 3D objects. The Thing can slide along the console, hiding and revealing the stored items.

Robert Stadler
Robert Stadler was born in Vienna in 1966. The designer has always been drawn to the details of objects and the narratives they evoke. He studied design at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan before attending the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in Paris in the late 1980s. He has continued to work in Paris ever since.
