Robert Stadler pays tribute to the anachronistic frivolity of Jean Royère, referencing his free standing designs. Moving away from traditional furniture forms, the backrest, arms, seat and feet of the sofa are blended together to form a more uniform shape. Details are blurred as if a skin has been stretched around formerly distinct elements. Areas of paler diamond shapes correspond to the front of the arms and the seat cushion of the original, which echo sections that were still perceptible as distinct elements in Royère's furniture.
