Wendell Castle’s bronze sculpture Promises Kept is a monolithic block moulded into a shape that resembles a human bust. The base supports the larger upper section of the sculpture in a way that seems to defy possibilities of the material. The work exemplifies Castle’s ability to generate anthropomorphic form out of otherwise abstract shapes or objects.
