Gino Sarfatti (1912-1985) was an Italian designer. Originally from Venice, he relocated to Milan in 1935, where he first developed a Murano glass vase into a lamp. He founded the lighting company Lumen in 1936 with Aldo Valcarenghi and Dino Mondolfi. In 1939, Sarfatti parted from Lumen and founded his own Italian light manufacturing company Arteluce. Sarfatti proceeded to design over 400 lamps in his lifetime, which are celebrated for their minimalist yet expressive aesthetic and experimental materials.
