Pierre Paulin

Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French designer who transformed post-war design with his “Pop” armchairs and sofas covered in jersey. His collaboration with Artifort, which began in 1958 and lasted over half a century, represented the most influential time of his career.

Artist Biography

Between 1968 and 1972, Paulin reworked the layout of part of the Louvre Museum in Paris. In 1984, French President François Mitterrand entrusted him with the design of his presidential office. His work can be found in MoMa, New York, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and Centre George Pompidou, Paris.
