The Pedi necklace is an 18k gold and ebony wood necklace from bespoke jewellery designer Alessandro Palwer’s Evocazione collection. Made in a limited edition for Carpenters Workshop Jewellery, the series interprets African tribal symbols, from Namibia and Tanzania specifically, into abstract gold lines contrasted against the dark uniform wood. Each finessed artwork demonstrates Palwer’s apt for compositional balance, thanks to his formal training in sculpture.
The Evocazione collection is a more nuanced collection than some of Palwer’s previous creations that centred on precious gemstones. His considered approach explores material subtlety, supported by the artist’s move from Paris to Venice. Initiated from spontaneous sketches, each piece of jewellery combines an exploration of language and culture with a dramatic theatrical flair. The ebony is carved into, and filled with gold components shaped by the traditional lost-wax casting method. This necklace can be worn at a variety of lengths, as combinations of one, two or three chains.

Palwer is a nomad by nature – currently Venetian - with a training in sculpture – Life-long experiences in French Haute Couture and a decade in the pursuing and in the creation of unique custom-made jewellery. His works are both bold and theatrical pieces, mixing raw and precious materials with unusual proportions. Treated as sculptures, inspired by female attitude, flair and femininity, and created spontaneously from artistic gouache sketches to sensual and powerful shapes. This collection evokes a journey.
