Sylvie Auvray (b. 1974) is a visual artist based in Paris. Auvray plays with different materials and techniques including paintings, bronze and aluminium sculptures and ceramics. Working on various scales ranging from the large to the miniscule, she combines primitive forms with sharp and strident colours. She gives life to an entire population of hybrid creatures, called “bestioles”, that relate to the viewer from diverse perspectives. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo and MAMVP in Paris, Consortium in Dijon and the MAMCO in Geneva. Auvray graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Montpellier in 1993, and from the City & Guilds London Art School in 1996.
