Highly-acclaimed decorative arts designer, Ingrid Donat, unveils Commode Ooni and Commode Maya in New York for the first time at Carpenters Workshop Gallery. Ancestral follows presentations in Paris and London and will showcase the artist’s skill for integrating sculptural practice into functional pieces of art. Donat draws from her family heritage, and the diverse culture of Réunion Island, to imbue her creations with anthropological, historical, personal, and cultural meaning.
