In the studio of Wonmin Park, post-minimalist designer
November 2022

To create, the South Korean designer with an original and post-minimalist style moved into the warehouse of the Carpenters Workshop Gallery in Seine-et-Marne. His works are on view in the Parisian gallery until January 7.
Metal parallelepiped storage warehouses placed side by side in Mitry-Mory in Seine-et-Marne, between an RATP maintenance workshop and Roissy - Charles-de-Gaulle airport. This is not where you expect to meet one of the jewels of contemporary design, the Korean Wonmin Park, whose works have already been exhibited at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul and the Museum of Decorative Arts. , in Paris.
Yet it is on this 8,000 square meter site – a place of research and production belonging to his gallery, the Carpenters Workshop – that he has his creative studio. Spotted a few years after graduating in 2011 from the Eindhoven School of Design, in the Netherlands, this emerging talent was offered, in 2015, this artist residency by Julien Lombrail and Loïc Le Gaillard, the founders of the gallery. Seven years later, he is, in Mitry-Mory, at home.
