Robert Stadler’s Hanger Chair brings together two functional objects- the humble coat hanger, and the chair. The linear form of the chair makes for the perfect place to both be seated and to hang a jacket. By achieving this, Stadler has created a functional object to meet the common misuse of the chair as a place to hang one’s jacket. The subtle integration of both wrought iron forms achieves a pleasing aesthetic, with the impermeable cushion temptingly floating within.

Robert Stadler was born in Vienna in 1966. The designer has always been drawn to the details of objects and the narratives they evoke. Stadler’s interests encompass both what he terms “aristocratic design” and objects typically deemed vulgar or absurd; he explores the possibilities for building bridges between the apparently incompatible.
