Stained Ash, Oil Finish
Revered as the founding father of the American Art Furniture movement, Wendell Castle was among the first in the U.S. to merge the disciplines of sculpture and design. The voluminous seat of Is It Yesterday Left is supported by three solid legs carved from ash and stained a monochrome black. Bordering on the anthropomorphic, the seat speaks to Castle’s ability to create elegant and beguiling works from humble materials, transforming and elevating their function.
