Najla El Zein chose a varied selection of materials for her five Sensorial Brushes, of which Hay is one. Described as "marble-sculpted pleasure tools", these multi-textured brushes juxtapose materials to subvert the traditional format of these tools. Hay combines a marble handle with painstakingly attached hay stems to form a tool intended for delight, not simple utility. Function is rarely a consideration in El Zein’s practice, but interaction is at the heart of her designs.

Najla El Zein
Influenced by her studies at Ecole Camondo and her years spent in Paris and Rotterdam, Najla El Zein returned to open her workspace in Beirut, a city that inspires her in a paradox of emotions, senses and memories which continuously trickle into her work process.
