Joris Laarman’s Bridge Table I is a sculptural masterpiece representing the fusion of art and craftsmanship. Sculpted with meticulous precision and an unwavering commitment to innovation, this table stands as an exemplar of Laarman’s signature style, where aesthetics meet cutting-edge technology. Its sleek, flowing lines and elegant form are captivating.
Bridge Table I is made via a process whereby ultra-tough coatings of tungsten carbide are applied to the softer aluminium structure. A polished aluminium surface would be easily marked and dented, but Tungsten carbide is indelible and permanent. Joris Laarman was the first to use this technique over an object the dimensions of this table, and pioneered the necessary adjustments to the process. The result is a dark polished surface that curves to almost make the large surface disappear.
