"Designers Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the founders of the influential Brazilian furniture company Forma, established in 1953. Focused on industrial processes, their work is characterised by the use of Brazilian woods, thin tubular frames, and a wide range of offerings from furniture to textiles and ceramics. Hauner and Eisler greatly contributed to the rise of Brazilian modernism with their innovative modes of production. The "Concha" lounge chair has become an iconic piece of 20th-century design. It presents a clean design, a smooth seat, and a backrest shape set on an elegant, thin metallic frame, which is a typical feature of the duo. This base structure shape was repeatedly reproduced to rediscover organic and industrial materials techniques.
