Oak Wood, Cane

Gio Ponti is an Italian architect, designer, writer and founder of the Domus magazine. He is widely considered one of the benchmarks for the renewal of Italian design after the Second World War. Known for his interdisciplinary creativity, he embraced new and modern materials while referring to tradition in original and unconventional ways. Gio Ponti created the oak wood lounge set in collaboration with Emilio Lancia, an Italian architect who mainly worked in the neoclassical tradition. The duo reconciled elements derived from Italian rationalism with a canonical approach, seeking to produce lasting furniture designs.
