Set of 13 Archival Pigment Prints
Having formerly trained as an architect, Jose Dávila’s practice is cemented on reconfiguring objects from the past into modern-day pieces constructed of found materials. His objects strike a vivid permanence in the way that they pastiche existing objects with symbols from western culture, rearranged into the artist’s own unique visual language. For Femme d’Alger I - XIII, Davila reinterprets Roy Lichtenstein’s Femme d’Alger (1963), as well as works by Pablo Picasso and Eugène Delacroix.
