Nacho Carbonell Checkers Coffee Table (TC 2/2022)

In this sculpture collection, Landform, Spanish artist Nacho Carbonell combines the physical textures of his native landscapes with the cultural overlay of human presence, creating an evocation of the human experience. In Checkers Coffee Table, the low rectangular coffee table blends different colour sands and wooden elements to render a checkerboard pattern into the piece. An open hole in the middle of the table contrasts with the welded rod legs and block of wood which support the table top. Nostalgic dreaming of sandcastles on the beach and playing in the sand inspired Nacho to create this work.
