This lounge set is part of the Denúncia collection, Caldas’ protest furniture, designed in the later period of his career. From the 1960s onwards, Zanine preferred to use natural materials in his designs. This ensemble is simple and elegant, made with tree trunks and fabric. The set has a sculptural, monumental quality, due to the large beams of wood that make up the structure of the sofa and chairs. The pieces are especially notable for their geometric, controlled design that contrasts the organic forms the designer typically favored. Always seeking harmony, Caldas balances the weight of the wood with his masterful use of negative space and fabric. It is extremely rare to find a complete Denuncia Trunk Lounge set. These pieces have never been separated, making them even more exceptional.
