The surface texture of Gyre III features a sharply delineated texture of voids and ridges that are travertine-like in appearance, built up over many days in multiple layers from 24 different hues of resin. The fissures of bright colours that are revealed as the exterior surface is cut back recall the intricate veining evident in vibrantly patterned marbles. Where Gyre I and II open up to project light outwards, Gyre III wraps the central void in tightly curved concentric shells that orbit the light source in more geometric manner.
