Multidisciplinary designer Rick Owens is known for using materials including raw plywood, marble and moose antlers in his furniture work, whose inspirations range from the designs of Eileen Gray and Constantin Brâncuși to the shapes of California skateparks. The lighting piece Wall Ogive Lamp Black Plywood exemplifies the designer’s avant-garde prowess and eye for materiality, merging his high-fashion approach with craftsmanship and functionality.

Rick Owens

Rick Owens grew up in Porterville, a small town in California’s San Joaquin valley. Drawn to pre-gentrified Hollywood and L.A.’s punk underground in the 80s, Owens studied painting at what is now Otis College of Art and Design. He then switched to Los Angeles Trade Technical-College to learn pattern-making and draping.
