The Pensive Earrings from Cindy Sherman x LIZWORKS display one of Sherman’s character portraits in a contemplative state, engraved in sardonyx shells, supported with pink quartz and natural lemon quartz cabochons.
The shells are hand-carved by Italian artisans whose history of traditional craftsmanship spans centuries. Cindy Sherman turns the formality of cameo engraving on its head, casting herself as a young idealised girl, addressing the stereotypes of women in art, culture and the media.
